The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) is an Indian governmental commission. The Commission considers that its Mandate is to ensure that al Laws, Policies, Programme and Administrative Mechanisms are in consonance with the Child Rights. For the Commission, protection of all children in the 0 to 18 years age group is of equal importance. Thus, policies define priority actions for the most vulnerable children.
What are the Child Rights?
➾ All People under the age of 18 are entitled to the standards and rights guaranteed by the laws that govern our country.
➾ The Constitution of Indian guaranteed all children certain rights, which have been specially included for them. These include :-
➾ Right to free and compulsory elementary education for all children in the 6-14 year age group.
➾ Right to be protected from any hazardous employment till the age of 14 years.
➾ Right to be protected from being abused any forced by economic necessity to enter occupations unsuited to their age or strength.
➾ Right to equal opportunities and facilities to develop in a healthy manner and in conditions of freedom and dignity and guaranteed protection of childhood and youth against exploitation and against moral and material abondamment.
The protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) came into effect on Children's Day, but International Child Rights Day is on 20 November.
